New partnerships provide Wake County seniors with access to region's largest health systems
RALEIGH, N.C., Oct. 30, 2017 – Alignment Healthcare has added WakeMed Health & Hospitals and Duke Health to its provider network serving Medicare beneficiaries, improving access to affordable care for seniors living in Wake County.
In 2018, qualified Wake County residents who enroll in either Humana HMO or FirstMedicare Direct HMO Medicare Advantage products will have more health care options with Alignment Healthcare and its expanded network of physicians and hospitals. Members of those Medicare Advantage plans will continue to have access to providers within the University of North Carolina (UNC) HealthCare system.
With the addition of WakeMed and Duke Health, members of these Alignment-affiliated Medicare Advantage plans will be able to seek in-network care from the county’s three major health systems. Enrollment in these plans also gives members exclusive, personalized access to Alignment Healthcare services, including care coordination, chronic disease management and Alignment Healthcare Centers specially designed for seniors to offer care where and when members need it.

The hospital systems will join Alignment’s network on January 1, 2018. Medicare Advantage plans are for individuals 65 years of age and older as well as individuals with certain disabilities. Every year, Medicare beneficiaries can make changes to their health plan selection from Oct. 15 to Dec. 7 for benefits that begin on Jan. 1 of the following year.
