The National Diversity Council Honors Dawn Maroney for her Leadership Excellence at Most Powerful and Influential Women’s Breakfast

ORANGE, Calif. (June 7, 2016) – Dawn Maroney, chief growth and marketing officer of Alignment Healthcare in Orange, has been recognized as one of the most powerful and influential women in California by the National Diversity Council.

Maroney was honored during the 7th Annual California Diversity and Leadership Conference today at the Westin Long Beach. This conference offers women a venue to learn and network with the top female business leaders in the state.

“The California Diversity and Leadership Conference is an excellent place to showcase the great strides women have made in the business world,” said Dennis Kennedy, founder and chair of the National Diversity Council. “Highlighting the leading women in California shows women that their aspirations are not unattainable.”

The conference will open with the Most Powerful and Influential Woman Awards breakfast. This award honors deserving female executives in various organizations in California. These women exhibit a commitment to the highest ethical standards of professional excellence. Following the recognition ceremony, Maroney will be participating in a roundtable discussion about leadership.

“Dawn’s extensive industry experience, passion for driving innovative services and spearheading marketing efforts has played an integral role in the growth of Alignment Healthcare,” said John Kao, CEO and president of Alignment Healthcare. “She demonstrates dynamic leadership and a commitment to the highest ethical standards and professional excellence.”

In a career spanning more than 25 years, Maroney is regarded as an industry expert and a pioneer in positioning health care organizations for success in challenging Medicare, Medicaid and underserved markets. Her past leadership roles have included Chief Medicare Officer at Care1st, where she doubled its membership and improved its CMS star-rating; Chief Sales and Marketing Officer at CareMore Health Plan, where she guided a period of historic membership growth from 3,500 to 65,000 members; and Vice President of Secure Horizons, where she was responsible for membership growth across eight states.

“It is an honor to be recognized, but an even greater privilege to demonstrate that women can move beyond the glass ceiling and make a difference,” Maroney said. “We need more women in leadership positions, and what better way to encourage them to be bold and reach high than to show how it’s done.”

Conference attendees will have the opportunity to enhance their professional skill sets by discussing topics such as “Preparing for Leadership: What Does It Take To Take The Lead,” “Building Higher Performance Teams: What You Need To Know,” and “Cross-Generational Competence: How to Get Generations to Work Effectively with One Another.” These topics are designed to challenge conventional ideology and promote organizational changes incorporating gender diversity.
