Mr. Margolis currently serves as chairman and chief executive officer of Welltok,Inc., creator of the CaféWell® Health Optimization Platform, and is chairman emeritus of TriZetto Corporation, which he began as the founding CEO in 1997 and grew from startup to nearly $550M in revenue. Following an IPO in 1999, TriZetto was traded on NASDAQ under the symbol TZIX until August, 2008, when it was taken private in a $1.4B buyout by a private equity investment group led by Apax Partners. Before founding TriZetto, from 1989 -1997, Mr. Margolis served as senior vice president and chief information officer of FHP International Corporation., a $4 billion health care company, and its predecessors, TakeCare, Inc. and Comprecare, Inc. During that time, he also served three terms as chairman of the Managed Care Executive Group. Mr. Margolis began his career in the management information systems consulting group of the organization now known as Accenture in 1984, where he helped numerous clients create information solutions in the manufacturing and distribution, financial services and health care industries.
Mr. Margolis has been directly involved in over 20 merger and acquisition transactions and over 15 private and public financing transactions. He currently serves as member of the board of directors for Quality Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:QSII), Predilytics, Inc., and Alignment Healthcare.
Broadly, Mr. Margolis is helping the health care industry understand Integrated Healthcare Management, as well as pioneering Health Optimization – the alignment of consumer actions and behaviors with the right incentives and rewards. These are new models for improving the coordination of benefits and care for consumers. He has been a frequent guest lecturer at the Harvard School of Public Health, Wharton School of Business, the University of Illinois and many other venues. He serves as Senior Executive Advisor to the Oliver Wyman Health Innovation Center. In addition to frequent public speaking in the healthcare industry, he has authored an extensive series of published articles, and, in 2009, published his first book, The Information Cure: Solving the Healthcare Crisis Systematically Through Integrated Healthcare Management. A second book, The Healthcare Cure, was released in November 2011. In addition to his professional achievements, Mr. Margolis serves the national and local communities in numerous capacities, including Past President of Temple Bat Yahm in Newport Beach, co-chair of the Rose Project Leadership Counsel for the Jewish Federation and a member of the Hillel Advisory Board. Mr. Margolis also serves on the National Board for the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America, the Board of Directors of Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach, the Advisory Board of The University of California at Irvine’s Center for Healthcare Management & Policy, the Advisory Board for UCI’s Center for Digital Transformation, is a member of the Board of Governors of Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles.
Mr. Margolis received his bachelor’s degree in business administration/management information systems with high honors from the University of Illinois in 1984, holds CPA certificates (currently inactive) in Colorado and Illinois, and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, with a Chartered Global Management Account (CGMA) designation and a Fellow of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD). Mr. Margolis lives in Corona del Mar, California with his wife Debbie, who is also an active community leader and volunteer.
